The Kāinga Ora project at 124-126 St George St in Papatoetoe is a prime example of modern public housing, designed to elevate the living standards of its residents. This development by Kāinga Ora, in collaboration with Architectus, aims to create a vibrant and supportive community that embodies the values of Manaakitanga, Mahi Tahi, and Whanake. The project focuses on providing quality homes and fostering inclusive communities, working alongside councils, government agencies, and community housing providers.

Design Objective

The primary design objective for this project was to replace the traditional Brick Veneer system with the innovative Brick to Click cladding system. This change was driven by the desire to enhance both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the buildings, ensuring they align with Kāinga Ora’s vision of creating sustainable and well-being-focused urban developments.

Façade Solution

The façade solution for Kāinga Ora was executed using the Stroher Brick to Click system, installed by The Tile People. This modern cladding solution was selected to provide a durable and visually appealing exterior that supports the project’s sustainability goals. The Brick to Click system not only offers a sophisticated look but also simplifies the installation process, reducing construction time and costs.

Result

The transformation achieved through the use of The Tile People / DCA Façade’s cladding products is remarkable. The buildings at 124-126 St George St now boast a contemporary appearance that complements the community’s aesthetic while providing long-lasting durability. The Brick to Click system enhances the overall quality of the construction, ensuring that residents benefit from homes that are not only beautiful but also built to last. This project stands as a testament to Kāinga Ora’s commitment to building better homes and communities for New Zealanders, delivering on their promise to positively impact people’s lives.
